CBD quality guidelines - What no one is telling you.
There are a lot of manufacturers of CBD oil popping up. Using the following CBD quality guidelines will help you in your search for a quality oil.
Most CBD is extracted from Hemp. Hemp is primarily grown to make rope and other fibers.
The first thing we have to worry about when considering CBD quality is the use of pesticides. Pesticides are used to keep other plants from growing alongside the Hemp. Sadly, pesticides can get extracted in the CBD.
Go to the company website. If they don’t have one, DON’T BUY IT! Part of CBD quality is a website that includes some important information. What we are looking for on the company website is an updated monthly or batch by batch broad spectrum testing for heavy metals and a broad amount of pesticides. We want to make sure the CBD oil is free of those items. Ignore the word Organic unless it also includes "certified by" USDA or Oregon tilth.
Unfortunately manufacturers can put whatever they want on the label until someone tells them not to. Make sure you are not getting a polluted product. You want to make sure it is free of contaminants.
Next you want them to show how much CBD is in the oil, not just full spectrum hemp extract. We want to see a dosage amount of CBD in their oil.
Third just for legality sake:
Hemp does make a small amount of THC which is the illegal, highly concentrated ingredient in Marijuana. It must be shown and certified to be less than the legal level of THC. Consider something as simple as a traffic stop. If you should happen to get tested and the CBD contains too much CBD, you could find yourself in some trouble.
CBD quality guidelines;
- Make sure it is tested and clear of contaminants.
- Making sure it contains a reasonable amount of CBD, (Cannabidiol.) I recommend 15 milligrams.
- Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid constituent of cannabis. It was discovered in 1940 and initially thought not to be pharmaceutically active. It is one of at least 113 cannabinoids identified in hemp plants, accounting for up to 40% of the plant's extract.
- Has been tested free of THC.
As always, do your own research;
According to webmd:
The non-intoxicating marijuana extract is being credited with helping treat a host of medical problems -- everything from epileptic seizures to anxiety to inflammation to sleeplessness. Read the complete article HERE…
Discussing CBD use with our pets.-
Pets have the same neuro receptors as we do. The cannabidiol will work the same way and provide many of the same benefits as we would see in ourselves. Sometimes CBD oil will help with the anxious pet, reduce inflammation and in turn resolve some pain. We do want to be more cautious as their systems can be more sensitive to strengths and things of that nature. The short answer is yes, CBD oil can provide some of the same benefits for our pets as they do for us. CBD quality guidelines apply to CBD products purchased for our pets as well.
